"As final evidence of the Rampage’s supreme fishability, check out the sheer size of the cockpit. It’s 130 square feet, while most competing convertible fishboats in this size range offer 110 to 120 square feet of fish-fighting territory."
–Boats.com
"Typically fussy fishboat buyers will be pleased by this interior. Well-executed, satin-finished cherry cabinetwork, Corian surfaces and high-quality fixtures and fabrics place the 45 Convertible at the high end in her category."
–Yachting Magazine
"Rampage's 45 Convertible has striking Carolina styling along with an excellent fishing layout. Serious fishermen will enjoy the large cockpit full of fishing features while the rest of the family will enjoy cruising aboard with the yacht-like interior."
–BoatTest.com
A TOP-SELLING boat with classic convertible lines, the Rampage 45 bore a strong resemblance to several late model Hatteras designs when she was introduced in 2002. The Rampage rides on a beamy modified-V hull with a well-flared bow, cored hullsides, and propeller pockets to reduce draft and shaft angles. Inside, the cherry-trimmed interior boasts a spacious main salon with L-shaped lounge seating to port (with rod storage under), U-shaped galley with Corian counters and under-counter refrigeration, and three-person dinette to starboard. Forward, the master stateroom is fitted with an island berth, and the portside guest cabin has single berths that convert to a queen. While both heads are fitted with separate stall showers, the circular shower door in the day head is a bit difficult to use. The huge fishing cockpit of the Rampage 45 — larger than most boats in this class — came standard with a 36-gallon (lighted) livewell, complete tackle center, engine room access door and two removable in-deck fish boxes. The flybridge has with single-lever helm controls and bench seating forward of the console. Cat 800hp diesels cruise the Rampage 45 at 26–28 knots (low 30s top).
"If, at first blush, this 45 seems a little pricey, do as I did and dig a little deeper. You'll see that Viking only knows one way to build boats, no matter what the size: first-class."
–Yachting Magazine
"The single-lever Glendinning electronic controls make maneuvering the 45 as easy as handling a boat half her size. She spins easily on her length and turns smoothly at speed thanks to Teleflex SeaStar power-assisted hydraulic steering."
–Power & Motoryacht
"Stepping into the 119-square-foot cockpit, I could see the 45 is certainly armed for bluewater battle, with a standard tackle cabinet, freezer, and recessed fishbox that can hold a dozen dressed tuna and dolphin. "

A STATE OF THE ART yacht when she was introduced in 2003, more than a few boating enthusiasts still consider the Viking 45 to be about as good as it gets in a midsize convertible. Expecting good things in a Viking yacht comes naturally these days, and the 45 delivered an impressive mix of luxury and performance. Her spacious two-stateroom interior—updated in 2006 with a serving counter in the galley—features the same satin-finished cabinets and Ultraleather upholstery as Viking's larger convertibles. The galley and dinette are forward in the salon, and rods stow handily below a posh L-shaped leather sofa. Frameless windows are capped with upholstered valances that conceal the air-conditioning ducts. A laundry center is at the base of the companionway steps, and both heads have separate stall showers. Cockpit amenities include tackle center, bait freezer, in-deck livewell and fish box, and transom door with gate. Additional features include a standard factory hardtop, large engine room with cockpit access, and teak and holly interior flooring. MAN 900hp diesels cruise the Viking 45 Convertible at 28–30 knots (low 30s top).
