At a Glance: Distinctive pilothouse yacht with semi-displacement hull and efficient single stateroom interior — only a handful of these boats were built during a five-year run. The galley-down layout allows for an open and comfortable salon. Everything about this boat seems overbuilt, and the engineroom — reached from a door in the galley — is designed for easy access to all important service points. The Nordhavn 35 also excels in storage space throughout the interior and outside in the huge cockpit lazarette. Helm visibility from the elevated wheelhouse is excellent. Early models with a single 350hp Yanmar diesel cruise at 7–8 knots. Beginning with hull #9, hull and drive train modifications boosted the cruising speed to 11–12 knots when powered by a 370hp Yanmar.

Price Range: Around $250K–300K on average.

2001–05

At a Glance:  A ballasted full-displacement trawler for long range passages. Originally built by Pacific Seacraft in California. Beginning in 2004, MK II models were constructed in Taiwan. The interior has two staterooms — a large master with island queen bed forward, and amidships guest cabin to port with single bunks (the lower bunk extends to create a double berth). Entering the salon from the cockpit, the Nordhavn’s spacious full-beam salon is highlighted by varnished teak cabinets and posh Ultraleather upholstery. A curved dinette is to starboard, and the U-shaped galley forward includes granite counters and Sub-Zero refrigeration. Up four steps to the pilothouse with its settee, teak table, twin Dutch doors, and panoramic views of the water. The engine room is accessed through a watertight door in the guest stateroom. Cruise at 7-8 knots with single Luggar diesel.

Price Range: From $300K to $600K.

1999–2009

At a Glance: Sturdy around-the-world cruiser combines bulletproof construction with proven open-water capabiliy. The 43’s asymmetrical salon is offset to port leaving a single, starboard-side walkway from the cockpit to the bow through the Portuguese bridge. An L-shaped settee is to starboard in the salon with an additional settee opposite. Continuing forward and up a few steps is the pilothouse with port and starboard wing doors, watch berth, raised settee, and teak table. Forward and down, the full-beam master stateroom is amidships and features a walkaround queen bed and en-suite head with shower. The forward guest stateroom has a double berth en-suite head and separate shower. Note the drystack exhaust system and 27hp get-home diesel with folding prop. A single Lugger diesel offers a cruising range of 2,500–3,000 miles.

2004–08

At a Glance:  A modern classic  — according to the company, no other production boat, power or sail, has as many successful ocean crossings as the Nordhavn 46. The original layout (Plan A) has the owner’s stateroom amidships, and Plan B—found in most later models—has the master stateroom forward. In Plan A, the forward stateroom is reached separately from the pilothouse; with Plan B, both staterooms accessed from the salon. The pilothouse includes port/starboard deck doors and a watch berth. The boat's asymmetrical salon is offset to port leaving a single, starboard-side walkway from the cockpit to the bow through the Portuguese bridge. Note covered side decks and dry stack exhaust system. A total of 82 Nordhavn 46 trawlers were built, nine with a flybridge. (The last 16 hulls had fiberglass fuel tanks rather than steel.)  A Lugger 143hp diesel will cruise at 8 knots with a range of 1,800–2,000 miles.

1989–2003

At a Glance: Ballasted full displacement trawler is designed to cruise the world in comfort and security. Entering from the cockpit through a large Dutch door, the elegant salon is arranged with a dinette to starboard and full settee to port. Forward, the U-shaped galley includes Sub-Zero refrigeration and a granite counter that serves as a breakfast bar. The heart of the Nordhavn 47 is her ship-like pilothouse with its dinette, Stidd chair, watch berth, and handsome wraparound helm. Below, both staterooms have private en-suite heads. The interior is light teak with teak and spruce flooring throughout. The standup engine room is reached from the master stateroom. A 40hp Yanmar auxiliary diesel is located abaft of the main engine. A single 170hp Lugger main engine — keel-cooled with a dry stack exhaust —will cruise the Nordhavn 47 at 8 knots with a range of 3,000 nautical miles. About 60 were built.

2003–08

At a Glance:  Raised pilothouse cruising yacht is capable of crossing any ocean. The main salon was offered in a standard or asymmetric widebody version, the latter offering more interior room. Belowdecks, the Nordhavn 50’s standard two-stateroom, two-head interior (a three stateroom interior was optional) has a large U-shaped galley forward to port in the salon, and an amidships owner’s suite — accessed from the salon or pilothouse — below with walkaround queen bed. The guest stateroom is forward with a portside double bed and office space opposite. The main salon has teak and spruce sole with settee to port with teak table, overhead handrail, hanging locker aft, and TV locker to starboard. Four steps up is the pilothouse with Stidd helm chair and L-shaped settee with pull-out pilot berth. A 40hp Yanmar wing engine is aft of the main engine. Cruise at 7–8 knots with a single 300hp Lugger diesel.

1996–2006

At a Glance: Long-range, full-displacement passage maker with towering profile incorporated Nordhavn’s newest styling and heightened focus on interior accommodations. The 55’s asymmetrical cabin allows for a wide main salon and galley, leaving the only side deck on the starboard side. With home-style appliances, tons of storage, and acres of counter space, the galley will please the most demanding chef. The owner's stateroom is on the same level as the galley, located amidships, where the boat’s motion is least objectionable during passages or while at anchor.  Forward is a large guest cabin with a double berth, office area, and private head with stall shower. The pilothouse — complete with private stateroom and head—provides full 360-degree visibility. A flybridge was standard. A single 330hp John Deere diesel delivers a range of 3,000 nautical miles at 8 knots.

Price Range: Mid $900s to low-to-mid $1 Million.

2005–09

At a Glance: Heavily built and engineered for redundancy, the Nordhavn 57 is a serious passagemaker with a bulbous bow beneath the waterline (to increase hull speed), a full displacement hull, and an unusually wide deep keel that allows for a standing engine room beneath the salon. The 57's three  stateroom, two head interior has the galley in the salon and a full-beam master stateroom amidships, under the pilothouse. The deck plan has a wide side deck to starboard and a narrower walkway on the port side. There’s a deck access door in the galley and two additional deck doors in the pilothouse, five steps up from the salon. On deck, high protective bulwarks and a Portuguese bridge around the wheelhouse provide plenty of deck security.  A single 340hp Lugger diesel delivers almost 3,500 miles of range at 8 knots.

Price Range: Mid $600s to $1 million-plus.

1999–2007

At a Glance: Go-anywhere trawler with ship-like lines and ballasted, full displacement hull. Wide 19'4" beam results in huge interior with spacious master suite. The entire superstructure of the Nordhavn is aft; her long foredeck is nearly flush, and the high bow — with its reserve buoyancy—is difficult to bury in a head sea. Three staterooms are included in the standard layout, and the crew quarters are reached through a hatch in the foredeck. The 62’s towering pilothouse includes an enclosed head, settee, and bunk beds. Additional features include commercial-grade doors and windows, keel cooler, dry stack exhaust, Portuguese bridge, and a fully equipped workshop. Note the asymmetrical salon with starboard side deck. A single 340hp Lugger diesel will cruise at 9 knots with a range of 3,000 miles. About 35 built.

Price Range: From mid $700s to low $1 million.

1993–2007

At a Glance:  Powerful long range cruising yacht offers ocean-crossing luxury for the fortunate one percent. Entering from the cockpit, the asymmetrical salon configuration permits a single side deck on the starboard side. There are two seating areas featuring settees and tables as well as a large lounge chair. The U-shaped galley is forward of the salon to port. Below, the spacious full-beam owner’s stateroom with king bed and desk is amidships, and the two guest staterooms are forward, one with a double bed and one with twins. The 64's commercial-like pilothouse features a settee and table, pilot berth, and port/starboard deck doors. Topside, the flybridge is equipped with a U-shaped settee and a Stidd chair. A dry exhaust eliminates the need for a large through-hull. Cruise at 10 knots with a single 425hp John Deere diesel. At this speed, she has a range of 1600 nautical miles.

Price Range: $2 million-plus for newer models.
